3,300 No Kings Protests
Millions and millions served democracy today.
Those of us marshaling at the New York No Kings march today had a 12 noon muster on W. 57th St. We got our vests and instructions as to where our services were most needed. I volunteered to be a front marshal, which I was, until it turned out that W.56th and Broadway was an unguarded intersection. So I became one who turned the traffic back as the crowds went down Broadway. That gave me a fine view of the proceedings. It also gave me the chance to meet many friends who came marching by. Here are some of the images that I enjoyed the most. Some pungent, some silly. There was a lot more art than usual. Including brigades of butterflies and flowers. They were many musicians, including this wonderful jazz band:
Even though it was cold and windy the turnout was about 350,000 here . . . and millions across the country, yet to be tabulated.
As Trump moves further every day in a fog of degenerative insanity, it is our job to grow the opposition and show strength in turning him back. Public opinion is a powerful force. And it is now all on our side.
No Kings marches are never the end of anything. Now it is an opportunity to build a mighty force for November. If we did not turn out and show this power, we would be in a far more dangerous position. But this country is not lying down. This is a full-fledged fight for the future of this democracy. We may not win every battle, but it looks to me, from here, that we will win enough of them to be able to keep fighting and grab this country away from the fascists and oligarchs.
Onward,

Love the most conversational signs.
He was really feeling it, as was his dog,
A touch of Picasso in the afternoon.
Vulgarity can evoke itself.
I told her that I thought this was the first time I saw that on a sign. Overdue.

Speaking of pungent signs, one here in Duluth today said “Elect a rapist, expect to get fucked”
