How Dumb, Really?
So dumb that he . . .
Trump must be called what he is; the very model of stupid. Each day he does things stupider than the last. He is burying the country in his stupid. However the forces of the non-stupid are massing. And will be decisive.
Paraphrasing Walter Huston in Treasure of the Sierra Madre: “You’re so dumb there’s nothing to compare you with. You’re dumber than the dumbest jackass. Look at yourself, will you. Ever see anything like yourself for being a dumb specimen?”
ONE ACTION.

Call Your Senators (find yours here)
Hi, I’m a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is ______.
First, I’m furious that the DOJ is demanding the personal information of thousands of 2020 poll workers from Fulton County, GA. Should this personal information be leaked these people’s lives could be in danger. Congress needs to intervene. Doxxing poll workers is attacking our elections. It could also get someone killed. Make it stop.
On another note, why are we only now learning that Iran has destroyed so much US military infrastructure in the Middle East? Why can we still not see imagery from US satellite companies? The Trump administration has told these companies they can’t release such imagery while the country is still at war, but I thought the war was over? Didn’t Pete Hegseth say it was? Either we’re at war—in which case a War Powers Resolution still obtains—or we’re not, and the satellite imagery must be released. Which is it going to be?

Extra Credit
The CA governor’s race continues to be alarming. Polling is all over the place, and still shows a tossup race between Steyer, Becerra, Hilton, and the MAGA Sherrif. It’s time to write to Matt Mahan, Antonio Villaregosa, and Tony Thurmond again and demand that they drop out of the race. None of them have any chance. They are serving as spoilers and they should stop.
Addresses are: info@mahanforcalifornia.com, info@tonythurmond.com, and contact@antonio2026.com
You can say something like:
Thank you for your leadership and your service to California.
I write to you with a difficult request: I call on you to end your campaigns for governor now.
My request has nothing to do with your qualifications or fitness to lead our state. Due to a runoff system beyond your or my control, we run the risk that Democratic candidates will NOT WIN the primary vote, enabling an all-GOP ballot in November. We cannot afford to take that risk.
Ending your campaign will signal to voters like me that you truly have the best interests of California at heart and will enhance my view of your candidacy in the future. Refusing to do so will tell me the opposite—I won’t soon forget it.
This is not about the merits of your campaign; it’s about the math. Thank you for considering this urgent request.
P.S. — My subscriber Mia T. sent the cartoon below to me—it’s by her cousin. Please beware of Matt Mahan. Silicon Valley tech billionaires such as Google co-founder Sergey Brin and and Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale are among his donors... gulp.

"Each day he [Trump] does things stupider than the last. He is burying the country in his stupid."
"Each day he [Trump] does things stupider than the last. Republicans are burying the country in Trump's stupid stupid."
Since 2016, determined and united Republican voters and officials have dedicated themselves to turning Trump's bad impulses into worse facts on the ground. Metaphorically and literally. Republican voters' unbounded resentment is expressed in the unmitigated power they have given Trump. For a bacchanal of destruction. Usually references to material things are metaphors which help us envision intangibles. Republicans' giving Trump our tax dollars to destroy the federal city DC, makes material their deep seated hatred of federal government and disdain for our labor and welfare. Just as their assault on the Capitol, The Temple of Liberty, to obstruct lawmakers' constitutional transfer of power, was a material representation of their hatred of government - and of the foundational idea that liberty is enacted through representatives of the people coming to consensus through reasoned debate of empirical evidence. And to pervert that idea by replacing it with 'might makes right' bullying. As personified by Trump as chief executive and commander in chief. John Roberts as Chief Justice. Pete Hegseth and the entire perverted Trump administration.
Republicans have a bent for scraping the bottom of the barrel for their leaders.
They've been here before. Nixon for instance. Memorialized in the political cartoons of Herb Block
Mirror, mirror on the wall
"In this cartoon from the beginning of 1960, Herb Block shows Vice-President Richard Nixon preparing to run for the presidential nomination that year. He depicts him on the basis of his past record as the witch-like character from Snow White. Nixon won the Republican nomination and lost to Senator John F. Kennedy that fall."
