Ann Telnaes, cartoonist for The Washington Post, resigned last night. The reason was the Post’s censoring of art by her that was too truthful for the editors of the paper that had adopted the motto: “democracy dies in darkness.”
Now, along with the other broligarchs depicted in Ann’s idea, the Jeff Bezos-Washington Post becomes a purveyor of the darkness. When freedom of expression is denied by the formerly free press (which enjoys the protection of the US Constitution) we see the clear shutting down of the nation’s ability to function as a democracy. If we remain quiet in the face of this ongoing threat, we must be comfortable with a Viktor Orban-style oligarchic authoritarian government, operating in the interests of a cabal, outside of politics and law. I, and other artists, have decided to take her idea for that drawing and finish it for her, as a tribute to the brilliant work (which will now only grow more powerful and important!) of Ann Telnaes, one of the most accomplished political satirists today, but also to raise our voices in support of free-speech in America. So, here is her concept: oligarchs Bezos, Zuckerberg, Soon-Shiong and Altman, bringing mammon to their monster, who is clearly insatiable. As he demands, and is given more, let our voices grow even louder.

I've been eagerly awaiting your take on the news about Ann. Well done. Herblock rolling over in his grave...
These cartoons summarise what I understand to be happening, very accurately. Lets stand with her!
